Uploading text and terminology to the CLIL Terminology Database in 9 easy to follow steps.

Step 1 Select a text
A small selection of text fragments from different subjects is included under Subject-specific texts. Select one of these text fragments to work with. Enter the title of this text on the Empty format under “Text title”.

Step 2 Assess your text
State the subject to which the text is related and determine the level of the text. Indicate the level of the text by defining the age-group for which you think this text is suitable. Enter both subject and level on the Empty format.

Step 3 Select terminology within the text
Within the text, select terms and expressions that you consider to be specifically related to your subject. Underline these terms in your text. Choose one of the subject specific terms to elaborate on in the following steps and enter this one under “Term” on the Empty format.

Step 4 Provide context
Add a 2 or 3 sentences in which the selected term is used in different contexts.

Step 5 Provide explanation
Explain the meaning of the term in other words.

Step 6 Try to think of synonyms (opt.)
Add as many synonyms as possible for your selected term.

Step 7 Add picture (opt.)
In the online CTD there will be an option to include pictures to clarify the meaning of the term. However, for obvious reasons, this step is not relevant in this particular workshop.

Step 8 Add sound (opt.)
The online CTD will provide the possibility to include small sound bytes to support pronunciation of the term. However, for obvious reasons, this step is not relevant in this particular workshop.

Step 9 Submit your data
Send the complete collection of data (text with highlighted subject-specific terminology, filled out format, picture and sound byte) to the CTD webmaster to upload your data.
